Imagine a small metal box. Imagine you select a few dozen ants and place them in this box. Now imagine you're leaving the metal box out in the sun all day long. Check back in on the ants in September.

This fun science experiment for sadistic children is comparable to my summer internship at a non-profit theatre whose roof is made of metal, and whose air-conditioning system just completed the mechanical equivalent of slitting its own wrists and not leaving a note. For the last week temperatures in Atlanta have been reaching for the big one-zero-zero fahrenheit.

So what does the theatre do when the building's been auto-hot-boxing all day long and they have to give do a show for 50 people under insufferably warm stage lights?

Give out free Flav-R-Ice popsicles to the audience, of course.
