Cat Stevens - "Trouble"
Our show still has one more Friday left, but I'll be in Alpharetta for graduation when it goes up; thus, last night was my last performance with everybody until next fall. I have to tell you that it was quite a show to go out on, because we fuckin' chewed that long-form montage-- incredibly, the improv was eons better than the sketch. I know the performance is secondary, though, to whatever it is that we've all formed between us outside of "the show." Last fall I never thought any of us would actually create any social bond whatsoever, and yet again it's been proven that I am an awful judge of character. I'm never again assuming anything about anybody, hear? Even if you've got an arm growing out of your forehead, I'm asking no questions but taking you out and buying you a chocolate malt.
Sigh. I wasn't sad about this until I sat down to write a sad blog. Please insert Iron & Wine lyrics here.
If I was brave enough to look at all my class syllabi, I would know that I will not have any final exams, but that I will have four fat papers due all in the same week, and only one of them for which I can bullshit. To put it with more color, I estimate I have about 30 pages due the first week or so of June.
Luckily, I am not looking at my syllabi.
In case any of you back home are feeling too ungrateful, I'd like to illustrate for you that this weekend Chicago is going to get no hotter than 62 degrees; in fact, tomorrow will be no more than 53 degrees. As I understand it, living next to Lake Michigan is like living next to the biggest fucking draft the world has ever known. And the weirdest part is, a month from now there will be elderly people here dropping like flies from the severe heat.
Finally, despite my limitless abundance of Core-love, Sosc needs to stop NOW. We've tallied enough awkward silences where people have been half-asleep or half-caring to equal the total number of a year's worth of "moment of silence"'s at MHS. In my Fundamentals class, Herman has spent the last 5 weeks explaining the Cave simile in about 37 different ways. And Shakespeare... well, he's just being Shakespeare. Ass.
