So this weekend was really good; it was extremely short, Kristen wasn't even here two days, but maybe that's what made it feel more perfect and whole. It's amazing how we just seem to pick up exactly where we left off, as if we hadn't been apart for almost two months. I think there's always that fear of waking up one morning and finding each other completely different and painfully irrelevant, but fortunately it hasn't been the case for us.

Ben Folds totally rocked! He opened with "Fred Jones Pt. 2" and closed with a real kick-ass "Song for the Dumped," and while there was no "The Last Polka" to be found, he definitely made up for in his musical improvising, which was really amazing. Ben Lee was good too, but the crowd wasn't really into it, and so all the inflated intra-song rambling ("Are y'all ready for a revolution?... a rock revolution??") that sounds good in a buzzing crowd just sounded lame in the UC's Mandel Hall. His song "Cigarettes Will Kill You" still rocks though, and later he came on to play a cover of "I Touch Myself" with Ben Folds. Also, I'm breaking up with Kristen if she doesn't learn to play the drums and join a rock band like the chick in Ben Lee's band.

We also went to the Museum of Science & Industry, because my girlfriend is Ross Gellar, and it was cool in a "Science is Fun!" kinda way. They have a human development display that showcases real dead fetuses suspended in jars, which creeped me out. So, no fetuses for my birthday, OK?

Also, Union Station is very cool, and I didn't get to show Kristen and her friend the Great Hall, but it's a very good place to be if want to imagine you're a prohibition detective hunting Al Capone's goons in 1930's Chicago. They also have a snack bar!

To bed, and I need some jazz.
