So I made what I find to be a nice little movie soundtrack mix. It's mostly composed of sentimental suites, soft orchestrations you can do your homework to or just relax with. All of the tracks stand on their own as real songs, except for perhaps the last medley from E.T. which is film scoring at its best. My favorites are the Field of Dreams songs, as well as Elmer Bernstein's timeless "To Kill a Mockingbird, plus Nancy Wilson's "Elevator Beat" and the always exceptional Thomas Newman with the always exceptional Shawshank Suite.
1. "Feather Theme" - Forrest Gump - Alan Silvestri
2. "Concerning Hobbits" - Fellowship of the Ring - Howard Shore
3. "Theme" - Life is Beautiful - Nicola Piovani
4. "Morning Passages" - The Hours - Philip Glass
5. "Suite" - To Kill a Mockingbird - Elmer Bernstein
6. "Road to Chicago" - Road to Perdition - Thomas Newman
7. "Estella's Theme" - Great Expectations - Patrick Doyle
8. "Main Titles" - Catch Me If You Can - John Williams
9. "The Shawshank Redemption" - The Shawshank Redemption - Thomas Newman
10. "So Was Red" - The Shawshank Redemption - Thomas Newman
11. "End Titles" - The Shawshank Redemption - Thomas Newman
12. "Birth of a Penguin" - Batman Returns - Danny Elfman
13. "Field of Dreams" - Field of Dreams - James Horner
14. "Elevator Beat" - Vanilla Sky - Nancy Wilson
15. "The Place Where Dreams Comes True" - Field of Dreams - James Horner
16. "Escape, Chase, Saying Goodbye" - E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial - John Williams
It's really a bunch of personal nostalgia, but they all strike a chord with me. If you'd like a copy, just ask, because I'd really like to get your feedback on it.
I suppose a quicker action mix should be made, too.
